Nursing Program
The Nursing Department at the Indian Family Health Clinic consists of two nurses. One is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who works full-time; one is a Registered Nurse (RN) who works 4 days a week. Both are capable of performing the following duties:
- Patient screenings and intakes
- Answer questions from patients
- Draw blood
- Do blood pressures and Temperature, pulse and respiration
- Collect urine specimens and perform basic testing
- Pregnancy testing and strep testing
- Referring patients to the providers when unable to assist them with their questions
- Ear syringing
- Testing blood sugars
- Oversee the patient assistance programs for those needing assistance with medications
- EKGs
The LPN orders and receives all medications that come from Browning; while the RN is in charge of ordering medications for pharmacy and stocking medical supplies and immunizations. Both nurses receive and screen phone calls for the Providers. The providers are often busy with other patients so you can speak directly with one of the nurses or you can leave a voicemail for the provider.
Patients are scheduled from 08:30am until 2:30 pm so the nurses are busy screening patients at this time. That is why it is recommended that if you have questions you arrive between 3pm - 5pm for assistance. It is also recommended you pick up medications from Browning at this time also.
Medications from Browning are ordered every Thursday, but because we are closed Wed., it is advised that you call in or drop off your reorder on Tuesday. Please be prompt for your appointments and we will do everything we can to assist you with your health needs.
